Do you think you are eligible to join the DAR?

Any woman is eligible for membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution who is no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. A complete list of eligibility information is available on the NSDAR "Become a Member" web page.

If you believe you have a patriot in your family tree, or have located an ancestor who was a Revolutionary patriot, please contact our registrar, Emily Carlin, who can help you complete your research and your membership application.

Beginning your research
The DAR Genealogical Research System (GRS) on the DAR website is a new and outstanding resource. The GRS is a combination of several extensive genealogical databases and contains names of Revolutionary patriots, both men and women, whose service (between 1775 and 1783) has been established by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Additional information available may include:
• Dates and places of birth and death;
• Name(s) of wife (wives) or husband(s) and children;
• Rank;
• Type of service;
• State where the patriot lived or served.

Please remember that not every Revolutionary patriot is included in this list, but only those who are ancestors of DAR members. A recent addition to the GRS is the ability to order and download copies online of any application(s) that you believe will help in your own research and application.

If you do not find your patriot on the list do not be discouraged. Contact our chapter registrar, who has considerable experience in researching patriot ancestors, and will have any number of helpful suggestions for you. (Please include your contact information such as name, phone number, and address inside the email so that we may better respond to your request.)
